Annotation: The article features the special features of the higher education system in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV). The periodization of the strategic plan оf higher and professional education development in Vietnam - its main stages, achievements and problems - is given. The article describes and analyses the main forms of development of the system of higher education in the SRV; the content of a package of criteria and quality standards for training in universities in Vietnam, etc.
