Igor Mozheiko (Kir Bulychev) and the Moscow School of Oriental Studies

Annotation: The article examines the scientific legacy of the famous Soviet sci-ence fiction writer, historian and collector Igor Vsevolodovich Mozheiko who was known under the nickname Kir Bulychev (1934–2003). His spe-cialty in the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR was the history of Burma (Myanmar). But his fields of interest were very diverse. He wrote about European missionaries and conquerors, Buddhist community of Burma and the Burmese state, the Second World War in the Pacific and the greatest architectural monuments of humankind, corsairs and raiders, merchants and politicians… The Moscow school of Southeast Asian studies was founded by the Academician Alexander Guber (1902–1971). Its main sphere was the socio-economic studies in accordance with historical materialism of the Soviet state ideology. But Igor Mozheiko wrote about humans in their true nature.
