On the language situation and language policy in the South of the Philippines

Annotation: The article is devoted to the consideration of the language situation and the state language policy in the South of the Philippines, that is, in those areas where Muslims traditionally live. It describes the attitude of Muslims to the public education system, part of which is language policy. The article identifies the main reasons for the local population's rejection of public schools and suggests ways to change this attitude in order to provide local residents with greater opportunities for education and integration into Philippine society while maintaining their ethnic, religious and cultural characteristics.
