The problem of Maori crime in New Zealand

Annotation: The author describes the legal and regulatory issues in the traditional Maori communities prior to their first contacts with the Europeans. She analyzes the reasons why the crime rates among the Maoris nowadays exceeds the crime rates among the other ethnic communities of New Zealand. The author concludes that the resolution of the “Maori crime problem” involves more targeted steps of the New Zealand governmental and law enforcement authorities.
