Annotation: Dr. Gourevitch E.M. analyses some problems aspects Singapore met last year. The past year has seen Singapore go throw the worst recession since independence. It has been a time if heightened concerns arising for a variety of reasons. The economic downturn, the job situation the presence of foreigners. The last one will be the main problem during the future general election. The author considers that the Government faces the uphill task of striking a balance between promoting Singapore as a welcoming and inclusive global city for a talents from the world over, and yet that accords special place for citizens and is committed to nation-building.
