Annotation: Today international situation in East Asia and in the South China Sea is still very acquit and jeopardizing security of some countries of the region. It seems analytically justified to look several decades back to analyze in detail two important stages of Chinese expansion in the southern flank of East Asian instability arch, namely the Chinese war against Vietnam in 1979 and Vietnam-China conflict in the Spratly Islands in 1988.
