The Communist party of Vietnam and the situation in the country before its XII Congress

Annotation: The paper dwells on the situation in the country on the verge of XII congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. A brief insight is given of the current economic situation, highlighting the problems of corruption, growing gap between the rich and the poor and others, which impede the “doi moi” course implementation. The author stresses the trend in Vietnam’s foreign policy to closer relations with the US due to Vietnam and China rivalry in the South China sed.
