The Dark Side of Chinese Influence in the South Pacific

Annotation: The article analyses negative consequences of step by step penetration of a new regional player – China in the South Pacific. In 2012 despite statements about retaining their former position in the South Pacific, the former regional leaders – Australia, New Zealand, US, France and Japan were unable to withstand the onslaught of the new global giant ‑ China. How China acts in the South Pacific will show what the countries destined to fall under its influence in the next decade can expect.
