Annotation: Dr. V. Urlyapov in his paper “Timor-Leste in 2012” considers political situation in the country, stressing that two rounds of presidential elections and parliamentary elections held in 2012 prove that the process of democratization is gaining momentum. This process is the evidence that the people of Timor-Leste can govern the country on their own. It is also improving the image of Timor-Leste as a fragile, conflict-affected country. In 2012 the UN Mission which had been present in the country since after the referendum of 1999 ended its work. But Timor-Leste still has a lot of problems to be addressed.
