Annotation: Dr. E. Gourevich in her paper entitled “ Singapore: Some aspects of immigration policy” analyses the results of the foreigners inflow on the local society and the government policy in this sphere. The main aims pursued by the Singaporean government are to provide immigration work force to the labour market and to increase the country’ population to 6. 5 million by 2070. The government attempts to control and regulate immigration and to integrate the newcomers into society. The author stresses that the government immigration policy caused a number of problems for the local population in jobs, housing, and education and provoke public anxiety on whether Singapore could be overpopulated.
