Annotation: The article observes the path of socio-economic development of Malaysia. Based on the three Industrial Master Plans and nine Five year Plans Malaysia has been cardinally restructuring its economy and society. Notwithstanding the crisis, sustainable growth has contributed to distribution that is more equitable and to a balanced regional development, promoting knowledge-based economy, innovations and leading edge technologies. Today government and business circles are aware that switching to innovation development and economy of knowledge means the new type of reproduction process. Malaysia is trying to achieve a status of a developed state of its own mold under the "Vision 2020" as well as to maintain its position as one of the major trading nations.
