China, maritime territorial disputes in East Asia and Maritime Silk Road of the 21 Century

Annotation: Emphasizing and substantiating the rise of the global dimension in East Asia’s maritime territorial disputes in which China is involved – primarily, the South China Sea and the East China Sea issues – the author analyses the potential of the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st Century (MSR) through the prism of its potential to make the contradictions less intensive. Directions and measures that can produce positive multiplier effect upon maritime security and cooperation in East Asia supplement the conclusion about the objective limitations of MSR.
