Аннотация: In her study China and Vietnam in 2005 Dr. Galina Murashova examines the character of relations between China and Vietnam from geopolitical, economical and ideological perspective. Geopolitically, Vietnam has to balance between the two giants - China and the US, trying to use their differences in South East Asia to its advantage. Economically speaking the relations between the two countries are designed by the new international strategy and the idea of a peaceful rise of China, which presupposes China's leadership in the region. In 2005 China left the USA behind and became the main trade partner of Vietnam with both countries still competing for foreign investments and foreign markets. As for the ideology, the two countries could be considered partners as both of them are governed by communist parties with Marxism-Leninism as basic ideology.
