ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2018, №2(39), 112-120
Annotation: The article deals with the problems of creation of special economic zones (SEZ) in Myanmar. The previous and current governments of Myanmar link the country's economic development and future prosperity to the establishment and development of special economic zones. It is planned to open three SEZs in the South of the country, where there is access to the Indian ocean − Thai-funded Dawei SEZ in Tanintharyi Region, Japanese-backed Thilawa SEZ near to Yangon and Chinese-backed Kyaukphyu SEZ in Rakhine State. SEZ Thilawa, with an area of 2,400 hectares, located 23 km from the former capital city Yangon, along the same river became the first and the only successfully implemented the project of creation SEZ in Myanmar of three planned by the previous government of Thein Sein. The article discusses the position of the new civil government on this issue.
