Vietnam in the context of the United States and China struggle for influence in South-East Asia

Annotation: In recent years, there has been a serious struggle between the US and China for influence in Southeast Asia. Beijing's desire to dominate the region provokes the US to pursue an increasingly active policy of creating a "deterrent" line for China. In order to strengthen its position, the United States is developing relations with Vietnam with a view of making it their ally and strengthening their position. In this situation, Hanoi has to maneuver between the PRC and the US and create its own system of counterbalances in relations with these countries.
