Chinese aid policy towards Southeast Asia: the main directions and features

Annotation: This article examines Chinese aid policy towards Southeast Asia. It singles out the factors that contribute to the growth of the PRC's interest in the region, analyzes the main forms and directions of the PRC’s aid policy towards Southeast Asian countries. Case study includes the countries of the Mekong River Basin (Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand) due to their geo-economic and geopolitical significance for China. In conclusion, the author provides an assessment of the effectiveness of the PRC's aid towards Southeast Asia.
