Myanmar: extraordinary presidential election

Annotation: The article deals with the problems of presidential power in Myanmar at the present stage of development, early resignation of President Thin Kyaw and election of a new President. The elected President Win Myint, like his predecessor, is a close associate of Aung San Suu Kyi. But unlike Thin Kyaw, he is a professional politician with 30 years of experience. He participated and won three times in Myanmar's parliamentary elections in 1990, 2012 and 2015. After the victory of the National League for Democracy in the General elections of November 2015, he was elected speaker of the Lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
