Annotation: The article assesses the influence of the project the Indo-Pacific Region (IPR) upon the evolution of ASEAN-led multilateral dialogue venues through the prism of a likely escalation of maritime territorial disputes in Northeast Asia. On revealing the origins, evolution and the present state of the IPR, the authors proceed with their implications for the ASEAN-led negotiations on Asia-Pacific security issues. Substantiating the likelihood of the escalation of maritime territorial disputes in Northeast Asia, the authors link it with the prospects of ASEAN and the Indo-Pacific region. The novelty of the research is the specification of the multiplier influence of the afore-mentioned factors, whose cumulative effect will jeopardize both ASEAN’s international policy and the advent of the Asian century.
