Annotation: At the end of 2018, several important events took place in East and South-East Asia, which highlighted the state of affairs and the dynamics of the conflict in this region between China and the United States in a new way. Both in Singapore at the ASEAN summit, EAS and the APEC summit, which was held in Papua-New Guinea, president Trump was absent, the US being represented by Vice President Mike Pence. Analyzing the position of the American side, the author comes to the conclusion that at all past summits no interest in a compromise with China on the part of the Americans was not seen at all, on the contrary, their position was stressed aggressively, was frankly anti-Chinese in nature.
Keywords: ASEAN summit, SAS, APEC, China, USA, great powers rivalry
