The Chinese Vector of ASEAN's Current Policy

Annotation: The article reveals the specific features and the evolution of relations between China and ASEAN with an emphasis on their current contradictions, as well as on the opportunities that ASEAN can employ so as to leverage the problematic issues and strengthen its position in the Asia Pacific region. The author substantiates the argument that the countries of South-East Asia can respond to China’s policy by means of implementing both a more selective policy and a balancing strategy with the assistance of extra-regional partners.
