Annotation: The article is dedicated to the memory of the outstanding Russian scientist-orientalist and teacher Gavriil Leonidovich Kesselbrenner. He not only actively taught the Indonesian and Malay languages, wrote dictionaries and study guides, actively worked with Indonesian delegations at a high level, but also studied Indonesian literature. G.L. Kesselbrenner certainly possessed the gift of scientific foresight. In the 1990s, Russian history became his area of interest.
