Annotation: The paper is dedicated to the so called “dancing girls” who appeared in Hanoi life at the early 1930s with the spreading of European dances in colonial Vietnam and is based on the reporting (phóng sự) of “Hanoi’s miserables” (Hà Nội lầm than,1937) by Trong Lang (1906-1986) which describes their unhappy life deprived of all rights.
