Indonesia 2020 - the Intensification of Contradictions

Annotation: The article deals with the events demonstrating certain growth of tensions in Indonesian society. These events are the conflict which arose from the bill on the developing the state ideology, the certificates for persons deliv-ering religious sermons and lectures, creation of new radical opposition Coalition of action for salvation of Indonesia, the “Omnibus law” on creation of working places, and returning from emigration of radical Islamist leader Habib Rizieq Syihab. The government’s reaction to activization of radical political Islam resulted in some limitation of political freedoms in Indonesia and growth of independent political role of the Indonesian Army.
