Lee Kuan Yew and Lim Chin Song: the Struggle for Power

Annotation: The article is devoted to the history of the political choice of Singapore after the proclamation of the colony as a self-governing state. The two prominent political leaders represented two very different political forces in the colony. The first group included the so-called "Strait Chinese", represented by Lee Kuan Yew and his associates, who were educated in an English school and committed to British values. Others, supported by the majority of the Chinese community, graduates from the Chinese school were represented by Lim Chin Siong. The political struggle unfolding in the country is analyzed in detail in the article.
