ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2021, №1(50), 114-130
Annotation: The Islamic Defenders Front (IDF) was created in 1998 by conservative elements in Indonesian elite and the Army as a tool to oppose the democratic reforms. But rather soon the Front obtained independent role as a militant radical Islamic organization which became the threat to the existing political system. The leader of the Front Habib Rizieq Syihab after three years forced emigration in Saudi Arabia returned to Indonesia at the end of 2020 and called the Front supporters for moral revolution against the government. Their activity was neutralized by the Indonesian Army and Police, while HRSy was arrested and prosecuted under the pretext of violation of anti-Covid19 law The government disbanded the Front while its leaders created new organization under the name The Islamic Brotherhood Front
