Unkind Beginning: First Contact of Maori with French

Annotation: This article is about the very first visit of the French sailors to New Zealand and their first contact with the native new zealanders now known as Maori people. During this visit a series of conflicts was started, that could affect the whole process of French and British colonization of Polynesia.
