Gold of Indonesia (Part 3.)

Annotation: The article analyzes the development of gold production in Indonesia in the last 2-3 years, which is subject to serious fluctuations and largely depends on production volumes at the largest Grazberg deposit, in Papua, operated by PT. Freeport Indonesia, which actually accounts for at least half of all gold produced in the country. The article points out the gross error of official Indonesian statistics in assessing the annual production of gold in the country, which is associated with double counting of the same gold produced by large companies and transferred for subsequent refining to the refinery of the state company Antam. At the same time, a significant amount of gold produced in illegal mines is also indicated, but not taken into account by the official statistics of Indonesia.
