Soft Power of Thailand in Laos

Annotation: The article examines the nature of bilateral relations between Kingdom of Thailand and Laos. In Thailand, significantly superior in terms of economic development and standard of living, those relations are considered as senior-junior relationships. In Laos, as far as the country's national self-consciousness grows, they are considered equals. At the same time, Laos, very close to Thailand in ethno-confessional terms, accept from Thailand various forms of traditional patronage. Thus, thanks to soft power, Thailand has the opportunity to keep Laos in the orbit of its influence.
