Indonesian Stand on Special Military Operation in Ukraine
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2023, №1(58), 87-98
Annotation: The article deals with the influence of the SMO upon the relations between Indonesia and Russian Federation. The Indonesian government approach on the operation was critical, mostly because separatism is one of the illnesses the Indonesian state suffers, and separation of four provinces from Kiev could have some demonstration effect. Undeniable pressure from the West also played its role. But considerable part of Indonesian community, its intellectual elite considers the operation as Russia’s reaction to anti-Russian policy of the USA and NATO. In this very complicated situation both governments are preserving constructive relations, including G-20 Bali summit in November 2022.
