The Development of Nickel Industry of Indonesia (Part 1.)

Annotation: The article is analyses the nickel industry of Indonesia at different stages of its development connected with the role of the state sector in industry represented by the company «Antam»; with the meaning of foreign investments and the system of «Work Contracts» spread in Indonesia after the regime of Suharto came to power and the Law of Foreign Investments was passed in 1967; with the construction of first processing plants in the country and a substantial rise of the quantity nickel ore fields being exploited and an increase in production of the ore for meeting the demand of Chinese Economy; with the policy of the Indonesian government of restriction and prohibition of the unprocessed ore export and the transition to its full processing in the country and the production of commodities with a high added value.
