Southeast Asia and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

Annotation: This paper analyses the activities of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Southeast Asia (SEA). AIIB is an international financial organisation, which had been initiated by the People’s Republic of China in 2015 and started its work in 2016. The author consequently studies the following aspects: the course and specific features of the SEA countries’ entrance to AIIB, differences in their goals and approaches, their place in the AIIB structure, and AIIB loans for SEA, namely the projects, supported in 2016–2022. The SEA countries include Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste, and Vietnam.
