The evolution of EU-ASEAN relations and Vietnam in EU policy

Annotation: The article provides a brief overview of the development of relations between the European Union and Asian countries, with special attention paid to establishing ties with ASEAN. The first Asian strategy of the EU, which determined the directions for the development of partnerships, was adopted in 1994. Gradually, the EU policy towards the ASEAN countries went beyond economic cooperation, expanding to interaction in the field of politics and security. The authors of the article paid special attention to the analysis of the development of relations between the EU and Vietnam.
