Annotation: The article discusses the Sangha Act of 1902, issued under King Rama V Chulalongkorn. It is considered to be a full-scale development of the administrative aspect of the reform of Buddhism initiated by his predecessor, King Rama IV Mongkut. It was in the 1902 Sangha Act that the new Buddhist sect Dhammayutika Nikaya, established by King Mongkut, was first mentioned as a separate structural unit in the updated model of the sangha. The Sangha Act of 1902 became a reflection of the centralization of the Sangha, its bureaucratization and systematization, which took place within the framework of the general state policy of modernizing the country.
