Indonesia between Ideology and Reality: Social Stratification

Annotation: National and social development of the multiethnic and multiconfessional Indonesian society is characterized by disparity in at least four spheres. First – considerable and deepening difference of wealth of different layers of the society. Second – differences in the wealth level and stratification in urban and rural regions. Third – differences in the wealth levels in different regions/ Fourth – differences in economic positions of ethnical communities. These four differences are tightly mixed up. This processes result in considerable damage for the only permitted in the country state ideology having social justice for the whole people of Indonesia as one of its five principles. The consequence is the growth of Islamist radicalism endangering unity of multinational Indonesian state.
