Ream Naval Base as One of the Factors of Tension in Relations between China and the United States

Annotation: Since gaining independence, the Kingdom of Cambodia has been striving for neutrality in its foreign policy, which includes a ban on the deployment of foreign troops on its territory, refusal to join military-political blocs, and balancing the interests of China and the United States. At the same time, military cooperation with the PRC is perceived by Washington negatively. This article examines the impact of the Ream naval base on the interaction between Phnom Penh and the two superpowers, as well as on Chinese-US relations.
