Pai Marire – the First Maori Сhurch

Annotation: This article is about Pai Marire – a Christian denomination which appeared in the 19th century in New Zealand among the Maori people fighting against the British colonialists. The war was hard, the enemy was strong, and the Maori people needed a strong ideology to unite and to support themselves. Pai Marire helped them as much as it could. Although its believers made a lot of political and strategic mistakes, it seems that Pai Marire performed a rather positive role in the Maori people’s history.
