Annotation: The review discusses a collection of field diaries and notes of naturalists and ethnographers-oceanists, which were published in Russian for the first time. The book was compiled by a large team of scientists and translators under the editorship of A. V. Tutorsky, Candidate of Historical Sciences. After reading the collection, the interested reader will learn a lot of specific historical data about the aboriginal population of the Maclay Coast from the late 19th to the early 21st centuries. The book should serve to demystify and falsely romanticize the region, which is still exploited by travel agencies around the world.
