Resume and Political Results of the 2023 Parliamentary Elections in Thailand
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2023, №5(61), 136-142
Annotation: The parliamentary elections of 2023 in Thailand, their course and results marked new phenomena in the political life of the country. The essence of the contradiction that has emerged is the struggle of traditional elites to preserve the existing political system with forces advocating deep political reforms in order to radically restructure Thai statehood, including reducing the role of the monarchy and removing generals from politics. The elections revealed a new politicized social force – the youth. This part of the electorate has been activated by the new and young Forward Movement party using modern political Internet network technologies. Changes in foreign policy towards rapprochement with the United States were also envisaged. At this stage, the traditional elites have managed to preserve the existing order of things. Domestic political events in Thailand had signs of the influence of external forces.
