The Crisis in Myanmar and International Humanitarian Diplomacy

Annotation: The article analyzes the crisis situation in Myanmar today. The military takeover of power more than three years ago sparked new political conflicts across the country, while fueling a long-standing ethnic struggle for autonomy and self-determination. More than 2.6 million people have been displaced, including hundreds of thousands who have fled to other regions of the country and even to neighboring countries. All these people feel the lack of food and medicine. The article examines the main problems and failures in the provision of humanitarian assistance by international organizations to displaced persons, as well as an alternative mechanism proposed by the parallel Government of National Unity.
