Indonesia: Preserving Mangroves for Mitigating Global Climate Change
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2024, №2(63), 142-153
Annotation: Indonesian mangrove forests account for about 24% of the world's mangroves, but occupy only about 2.6% of Indonesia's forest area, and remain vulnerable to logging. Nature-based climate solutions to climate change includes the conservation, restoration, and/or improved land management actions that increase carbon storage and/or avoid greenhouse gas emissions from forests, wetlands, grasslands, and agricultural land.
Due to their potential to absorb carbon and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mangroves have gained global prominence as a nature-based solution to climate change.
