The Taiwanese Factor in Bilateral China-Philippine Relations
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2024, №2(63), 182-194
Annotation: China-Philippine relations are derived from the influence of many factors. Contacts between China and the Philippines were mainly limited to trade issues in the X-XIX centuries. However, due to a number of historical changes (the beginning of the Cold War, the formation of the People's Republic of China and the emergence of the “two Chinas” problem, the formation of the US-Philippines military and political alliance), they began to acquire a more complex and complicated character in the second half of the XX century. One of the reasons for the increasing complexity of the dynamics of China-Philippine relations was Taiwan, which became a significant element in the political interaction between the two sides.
