Annotation: The state and society in Thailand had developed as hierarchical one. The fundamental principles of seniority and hierarchy were manifested in three areas – the court and the royal family, public service, and everyday life. On these principles system of the royal titles was created, which constituted the hereditary aristocracy. The system of ranks and titles was developed for the state service of the nobility. At the household level, the subjects of the state were brought up to understand the social hierarchy, which was implemented in behavioral etiquette, speech practice of addressing people with different social status, in interpersonal relations based on the principles of patron-client. Certain elements of social and political traditions have been preserved to this day.
