Trade and Economic Cooperation between the EAEU and ASEAN: what the “Five” and “Ten” can Offer to Each Other

Annotation: In 2023 we celebrated the 5th anniversary of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Eurasian Economic Commission and ASEAN. How the relations between the Eurasian Union and the Association has developed over these years? Has been achieved any progress in trade and economic cooperation? This article analyzes the key indicators of economic cooperation between the two associations and also identifies some factors that may influence on the dynamics of trade turnover between the EAEU and ASEAN. With the start of the special military operation in Ukraine (SVO) Russia's relations with a number of Western countries have sharply worsened and they imposed numerous anti-Russian sanctions. Current data for 2023-2024 are not available since the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation has suspended the publication of customs statistics on foreign trade due to the risk of expanding sanctions against Russian legal entities and individuals.
