China's Trade and Economic Strategy in Southeast Asia: Historical Context and Current Trends

Annotation: In the context of the intensifying confrontation between China and the United States for regional and global leadership, Southeast Asia as the geographic center of the Indo-Pacific region is acquiring extreme importance. The object of study of this article is the trade and economic policy of the PRC in Southeast Asia in recent decades. In order to determine the main directions and specifics of trade and economic cooperation between China and the ASEAN countries, a historical retrospective of the relations between the parties, the role of China in the infrastructure development of the region, and the dynamics of foreign trade relations are shown. Particular attention in the study is paid to the intensification of trade and economic relations based on regional multilateral cooperation, which is becoming increasingly important in the context of the crisis of the global system of international relations. A conclusion is made about the steady growth of mutual trade over the past decades, which indicates the importance of developing mutually beneficial economic ties and strengthening political relations for each of the parties involved.
