"Smart Cities" in ASEAN Countries: Indonesia's Experience

Annotation: The proposed study aims to identify the specifics of the theory of “the smart city” and tendences of its implementation in Indonesia. In Indonesia, “The Smart Cities program” has been developed since 2013. A few years later, the Nationwide Smart Cities movement was formed and the “Gerakan 100 Smart Cities Program” was approved, which set the goal of creating 100 “smart cities” in the country by 2045. With the obvious advantages of forming "smart cities" in Jakarta, Makassar, Medan, Banyawangi, etc., many challenges and risks remain, which lead to Indonesia lagging behind some ASEAN countries in the ranking of the world's "smart cities"
