Cambodia Trade Relations: Features and Development Trends
ЮГО-ВОСТОЧНАЯ АЗИЯ: АКТУАЛЬНЫЕ ПРОБЛЕМЫ РАЗВИТИЯ, 2024, №4(65), 118-128
Annotation: Over the past decades, Cambodia has made impressive progress, becoming one of the most dynamic economies not only in the region, but also in the world. Foreign trade played a significant role in this process. On the one hand, its expansion contributed to filling the domestic market with necessary consumer goods, and also provided the industry with the necessary semi-finished products and means of production, which subsequently stimulated the development of export-oriented sectors of the economy.
This article examines the main foreign trade indicators, their dynamics, and highlights the factors that influenced the development trajectory of the country's foreign trade. Relations with key trading partners are analyzed in the most detail, the features of interaction with them are highlighted, as well as shifts in the commodity structure of mutual flows. It is concluded that the Cambodian foreign trade industry is extremely concentrated, both geographically and nomenclature-wise, which makes the country’s economic model more vulnerable and dependent on key partner countries.
