Badges of the Indonesian Air Force: A Preliminary Outline

Annotation: The Indonesian Air Force (Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Udara, TNI-AU) ensures government control over the country’s many islands but its brevets remain largely unexplored. The article provides a preliminary catalogue of the Air Force badges and brevets as they can be found in open sources. There are brevets of various military educational institutions. There are qualification badges as well as badges of various Air Force units. Brevets and badges seem a part of the Indonesian award system as they supplement regular orders and medals. Actually badges serve as decorations in Indonesia and they reinforce the hierarchical structure of the Indonesian Armed Forces.
