Digital Oriental Studies: The Role of Dashboards in Applied Regional Research

Annotation: The rapid development of digital capabilities is driving higher demands for analytics — from the speed of data processing to the depth of fact interpretation. Amid the transformation of the global order and the increasing complexity of the information landscape, there is a growing societal and academic demand for verified, structured, and accessible scientific information. In this context, the development of interactive digital solutions, such as dashboards, is gaining particular significance. Interactive web platforms provide enhanced opportunities for visual analytics, a high level of transparency, and reproducibility of research. This study examines three case studies of interactive dashboards and their importance for research in the South Pacific. They were all developed on the basis of Digital Research Laboratory at the Contemporary East IOS RAS. Each of these dashboards is dedicated to specific issues in the South Pacific, ranging from Australia's and China's relations with Pacific Island Countries (PICs) to the results of elections on the Solomon Islands, and on the Fifth Continent itself.
