Soviet-Khmer Top-Level Meeting in Light of the Collapse of N. Sihanouk’s Regime (March 1970)

Annotation: The article considers the visit of Prince Norodom Sihanouk to Moscow in March 1970 – on the eve of the military coup and Sihanouk’s removal from power. The author analyses in detail the content of and the various discussions during meetings between Soviet leaders and the Prince. The article puts a lot of focus on their treatment of sensitive issues, such as the running of Ho Che Minh’s Trail through Cambodia’s territory. The author clearly demonstrates that Soviet leaders assessed the situation exclusively from the point of view of North Vietnam’s interests.
