The U.S. – ASEAN AI Cooperation: Enroute to Info-Colonialism?

Annotation: This paper analyses the recent developments in artificial intelligence (AI) – related cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the United States of America. The author discusses the bilateral negotiations in this field and concludes that the very introduction of AI topic and its aspects into the U.S. – ASEAN dialogue partnership itself presents a dramatic challenge for ASEAN cyber security, as long as it opens the door for the U.S. expansion in one of the most sensitive areas of modern science and technology in the whole region of Southeast Asia.
